Hi there,

I'm interested in starting up playing the irish whistle and am not sure what to look for.

A quick search on amazon brings up results of whistles in many keys as well as both low and high.

I was just wondering if anyone could help me in finding the "standard"(as far as key goes) whistle and also a good brand of whistle.

Thanks,
PS. any suggestions for good books would also be appreciated (I am interested in playing both fast and slow peaceful songs)

It all depends on what you

It all depends on what you are looking for as far as which whistle brand to buy. The standard for most Irish reels and tunes is the D key whistle. If youare just starting and do not want to spend a lot of money a Feadog Whistle is a good one to start with or you can go with most anyof the others in the higher price ranges. Read through the forum posts and you will see that whistles can run from under $10 to over $300 depending on who made it if it was mass produced or a oneoff handmade whistle.

Hi everybody. Im from Mexico

Hi everybody. Im from Mexico and here aren't these flutes but can I shop it on line from http://www.whistleanddrum.com/ a good place for shoping whistles. is in the usa. and so, i have some like a generation Bb, a dixon trad nickel in D, and two original clarke penny whistle in c one and D one. I like all these flute and they have some differences. The clarke have a too much (in my opinion) chief soud, a air soud but these have the sweetest sound, I don't know if all clarke sounds like that, please someone let me know. The dixon have a pure sound no too much chief sound. and the genration is too a good one.
