Hey everyone! So I have played the Saxophone for around 13 years so picking up the fingerings for a D Whistle is really easy. Where I am having trouble is when I pick up a C Whistle.
When I pick up the C Whistle and look at a piece of music and see the note "D" I want to automatically cover all 6 holes!
My question is do people just relearn the notes for a different tone whistle? Do people just transpose the music? Any advice would be great!

I've come to the D whistle
I've come to the D whistle via the descant recorder (many deades ago) which is in C. I was going to transpose the music but decided it's better to learn new fingering. Starting with tunes that I know and the help of this site, it's going quite well if somewhat slowly.
I don't think using a C whistle is advisable when it comes to traditional Irish music, though. Most of the tunes are in D, G, or A so getting those #s on a whistle is going to be tricky, especially when played at speed or with ornamentals.
