I would like to learn to play the tin whistle, I am a complete beginner and looking for advice on which tin whistle to buy, I have read the forum and thinking maybe feadog or sweetone. Also could you suggest a beginners book/cd to get me started, Thanks

You really can't go wrong

You really can't go wrong with either of those whistles. I've owned and played both and liked them both quite a bit. There used to be a book with a CD called 120 Session Tunes by L.E. McCulloch but it's been a while since I've seen it. Perhaps Amazon might carry it or be able to order it.

I have owned both of those

I have owned both of those whistles, and both are decent. My favorite is a wide bore Walton, though.

In addition to a book and the videos on this site, you might take a look at http://www.tinwhistler.blogspot.com/

Another option is a Clarke

Another option is a Clarke tutor by Bill Ochs. It comes with a CD and has a lot of tunes from a wide variety to learn. I've had less luck with the Feadog than with the Sweetone.

I have a couple Feadogs, and

I have a couple Feadogs, and the "E" hole is larger and slightly closer to the "F" hole when compared to all my other whistles. It's also larger in diameter. It takes me a few minutes to get used to its location. I have a tendency to miss hitting the hole more on the Feadog. On that note, (pun intended) I'd choose the Sweetone any day.
Hope that helped.
