If anyone stopped by the forum today and noticed a metric buttload of spam, I apologize. A registered user (Kingston, ) hit me with a ton of garbage ads and for his POS websites. They have all been removed and his account blocked.
In addition, the attack exposed a weakness in the site's forms that I believe I have solved by partnering with anti-spam firm Mollum. All forms (comments and the forum) are now protected by this service which analyzes the content and presents a CAPTCHA to the user if it is detected as spam. In the majority of cases, users will never see this CAPTCHA because they are submitting legitimate content. If they are flagged as a false-positive, filling out the CAPTCHA correctly will mark the post as valid and all will be well.
So long story short, I apologize for the hassle (which hopefully won't be much of one) and if you feel like thanking Kingston, feel free to sign him up for your favorite-fake-meat-in-a-can advertisements ().
