The G scale is very similar to the D scale except that we are beginning on the note G and there is a C natural instead of a C sharp as is found in the D scale. As always, make sure to practice slowly so all the notes sound with good clear tone.

hi , i'm a bit conffused... on the G scale you marked the fingering for C natural twice , each time different.. why is that?

That's a good question -- I tend to keep my finger on that hole because on my whistle the notes are more in tune when I do. However, it's a very slight difference and on your whistle it might not be noticable at all. So it's really dependent upon your instrument.

Hey,
I have decided to teach myself how to play, and got a tin whistle about a week ago. This site has been a great help, though I"m still trying to master the blowing strength.
I would like to ask, it seems in this video that your 3rd finger of your right hand is covering the hole for some of the notes, but in the G-scale fingering map, it shows this hole open. Confused, though to my untrained ear it sounds the same.
PS-Any blowing tips?

Whoops! Right you are, I'll make the change as soon as I can!

Hi,
I was very excited to come across this site as I've owned a tin whistle for about ten years now, ever since my friend bought me one from Ireland. I was just curious whether or not you realised that while you explain the C natural in the video, you haven't actually marked the fingering on the G Scale?
Thank you for supplying us with this site :) I look forward to learning to play my whistle properly.

Glad you're enjoying the site
Glad you're enjoying the site -- the accidental mark by the C is called a "natural" mark, as in C natural vs. C sharp -- the one by the F is the sharp. Though it occurs to me that it might be confusing so perhaps it's better to just remove the natural mark completely.
